QuickTime Troubleshooting

If you are having any difficulties viewing the Beyond Vision movies please read through the information below.

Following the check list, step by step, will help you resolve any issues your computer may have.

  1. Which version of QuickTime do you have installed on your computer?
You will need QuickTime 5.5 or later.
To download the latest version for free please click on the link below.
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download
Now check to see if you can view our movies.

  2. Are you connected to the internet behind a firewall?
Please ask your Network/IT Administrator if you are unsure.
If you answered yes to this question then you will need to change a couple of settings in your QuickTime preferences – please follow the instructions below.

    1. Open QuickTime
    2. Go to Edit/Preferences/QuickTime Preferences
    3. In the popup box select Streaming Proxy
    4. Check the “Use system settings” box
    5. Close QuickTime and test a video

If this does not work then you will need to get your proxy settings (from either your Network Administrator or ISP).

Once you have these go back to the same Streaming Proxy window in the QuickTime preferences then:

    1. Uncheck the “Use system settings” box
    2. Fill in the HTTP proxy server boxes
    3. Close window and test a video

  3. Which operating system are you using?
For information regarding QuickTime and how it works with your operating system click here.

  4. What connection speed do you have?
The movies on this site have been encoded for the best picture quality so those with fast connections are in for a treat and those with modems connections... patience!

  5. Are you able to view any of the videos?
The movies in the “Theatre” are streaming while the rest of the movies on the site are downloaded.

  6. Can you view QuickTime movies on any other sites?
If you can, you should be able to see ours – if you can’t then you know for sure that it’s a QuickTime player issue.
